So I'm here in the writer's room with Bruce Miller, the creator of the

Handmaid's Tale and rather than do a normal introduction I figured I would let

Bruce set the scene for us.

Can you tell us a little bit about where we are?

Right now we're in my office, which is part of the writer's office.

And we have a few bulletin boards up here with cards that represent the first few

episodes of season two which is what we're working on now. So if I look at those

will I be killed in a tragic death you'll be put on the wall and the way we

break stories is by putting them you know putting each beat each kind of

different story moment onto index cards and

and putting up on a board and then you can move them around and stuff like that it's

very very you know non exciting old school low tech stuff.

So you've been doing this a long time, right?

You started at ER, is that right?

I mean, one of my first TV jobs was ER my first real TV job I was on a show called

Higher Ground before that on Fox Family which was a great experience and they

taught me it taught me a ton and Matt Hastings and a few other people who I worked with on that show. I'm still working with

Strange, you know amazingly enough and we had some you know A.J. Cook was in that show.

Hayden Christensen was on that show.

Was it great?

When was that?

It was somewhere in the 1840s I think.
