or gospel event in recent days. It is our prayer that the message will be a help to you today.

Music will be a help to you today. I want you to open the Word of God with me, if you will,

in the New Testament to the Gospel according to Mark.

And once you find Mark, go to Mark chapter number one,

and put your Bible marker or ribbon there because for the next three days i want to camp in mark chapter one with you i have started as so many

other people have at the beginning of a year a new reading through the scripture how many of you're

reading through your Bible this year?

That's good. And by the way, you don't have to read a certain system or certain number of chapters

to be obedient to God. There's nothing in the Bible about that. I had a Bible teacher years ago

named Frank Sells who used to say don't be a slave

to anything but Jesus. And I think that's true. And sometimes you can get in a habit that becomes

a rut and a rut, Vance Havner says, just a grave with both ends knocked out of it. So a habit can become

death and occasionally I'll step away from a Bible reading schedule

just to meditate a certain portion of Scripture or live in a chapter of the Bible for a little while

or something like that.

But it has helped me to have some regular, systematic way to go through the Bible because

it keeps you coming back for more, and you know where you're going next.

You're not just letting the Bible fall open and hoping you find something, you know.
