Live in Times Square, this is Good Morning America. We're going to begin with the massive cross-country storm that is on the move.

Evacuations in the West are underway as the threat of heavy rains, flooding, and mudslides

hit some of the same areas that were scorched by the recent wildfires.

Ginger is right there standing by, tracking how the system will impact the rest of the country.

But first, Trevor Alt starts us off in Los Angeles. Good morning to you, Trevor.

Good morning, Robin, and we've been in the middle of downpours overnight, and this is going to be significant rain continuing through the morning.

You see some of the preps here, homes that have boards and sandbags laid in front, and all of this water and mud that's rushing down this street.

In fact, last time they had a storm, a car was caught up in mud down this road and swept all the way down.

Now where we are, we're under a flash flood warning, but all around Los Angeles, there's more than 20 million people who are under flash flood watches.

And the areas that were hit by the wildfires are particularly

susceptible because all of that soil has been destabilized. We know that more than a hundred homes

have been told that they need to evacuate parts of the Pacific Coast Highway. They've been shut

down to drivers too. And the Los Angeles Fire Department has pre-deployed search and rescue teams

because they are expecting these conditions to be so dangerous.

We know people in Los Angeles are saying they've already been hit so hard because of the fires.

They hope the worst is over, but I mean look at all of this, the water rushing down from the rainfall.

They are hoping that they'll be able to avoid any further damage, but they have to stay vigilant with really
