Hello and welcome to best laid plans. This is your host Sarah Hart Unger and this is the podcast where we talk all things planning and planning adjacent. And today this episode is airing at the beginning of a month and perhaps the beginning of a quarter or quintile.

0:23.7

It is April 1st when this episode is coming out. And for me, that marks the beginning of quintile 2.

0:29.8

I define that as the period after spring break. I guess spring break is a little bit of a buffer zone, like a no man's land,

0:36.9

with quintile 1 going from January 1st until that break.

0:40.1

But even if you define your quarters traditionally, as in January through March, April, May, June, etc., then this would be the beginning of your second quarter.

0:49.5

And so this is a really nice, fresh start interlude for all of us.

0:53.0

So welcome.

0:53.8

If this is the first time you're

0:54.9

thinking about it, this is your spring quarter, Erquintile, and hopefully it's going to be an

0:59.9

awesome one. So today I'm going to devote today's episode to talking about travel, in part because

1:06.4

as I'm recording this, I am getting ready to travel. And as it airs, I will have just returned from

1:11.6

some travel. And I know that a lot of us are thinking about travel, whether that pertains to

1:15.9

spring break or the summer, or maybe you've laid out your travel plan for all of 2024,

1:20.7

and you're thinking about the trips that are coming up ahead and the planning you still have

1:24.8

left to do surrounding some of them.

1:33.0

I also feel like I've done a travel episode in the past, but things always change, and especially they change if you have kids.

1:34.8

I remember for the longest time, I looked forward to my kids being six, 10, and 12.

1:41.0

Because to me, that seemed like the ages when travel to almost anywhere would become

1:46.1

fairly, I don't want to say painless, but more fun than stress. And you know what? I was right.

1:52.2

I mean, maybe in a couple years things will be even easier. A six year old is not exactly

1:57.0

entirely self-sufficient or at least not my six yearyear-old. But, I mean, we're definitely

2:02.8

in a place where going places is enjoyable. I don't feel like I have to be completely on all
