I'm Mark Stephen. He's you and Michael Wreath.

Yeah, it's been an amazing week. We had a couple of days of sunshine, then the heavens opened,

and I spent the rest of the week building an arc, but we've been out and about all over the place.

And one of the more interesting ones I've been looking at was the impact of some of the wildfires

that we've been having in Scotland.

Yeah, there's been quite a lot of those.

It's kind of counterintuitive to a certain extent, but people assume coming off the winter,

everything's fine, but of course that's when the plant material is at its deadest, you know, and if you've got a dry

period, it can be extremely problematic. This week, experts in fire prevention gather to assess

the implications of what was a massive wildfire that engulfed a large area of Murray.

Yeah, it took teams of professional firefighters and volunteers from the neighbouring estate. Days and days to try and put the fire out in pretty tricky conditions.

Freelands gamekeeper Dave Thompson told me how he first heard about the fire.

A phone call from somebody to say that the fire was heading in our direction, if you like,

heading for Dunfayal-Altaire direction.

So what was the like when you got up here?

Pretty grim really. I already had a good hold but the time I seen it had come miles
