So before we get into it with Ellie, let's set up the conversation a little bit.

Attorney General Garland has been in the news recently after the Justice Department decided

that they'll defend Donald Trump in a defamation suit against him by writer E. Jean Carroll.

That is just one of many decisions that Attorney General Garland has made lately that has

seemed to put the Justice Department in a position of protecting the institution over

actually fighting for justice, especially when it comes to Trump and his administration.

And someone who'd went to law school, I enjoy getting into the legal arguments against

Donald Trump.

And there's a little bit of that in this episode.

However, most of it is really about the larger questions of justice, how we administer justice,

what principles we should be adhering to, and really kind of the framework of a society

and a broken justice system that doesn't go after powerful people.
