Patreon link so thanks for your support and tonight we're talking about unconscious memories, how they work, why they are so influential, what they're trying very often to tell us.

So I'm sure there was a more elegant way to put that, but we'll have to go with that.

In Freud's theory of personality, the unconscious is a vast reserve of feelings, urges, memories,

working outside of our awareness manifesting sometimes in benign forms like

slips of the tongue or dreams or punchlines of jokes, but sometimes also manifest in very dysfunctional intrusions

such as in the time of Freud what they called hysteria, which today we might call post-traumatic

stress disorder or phobias. Today though we know that the intrusion of

unconscious content is clearly manifest in anxiety and panic attacks,

addictive compotions, intrusive repetitive ideations, catastrophizing, very often ongoing,

intrusive resentments, relationship problems, as well as a host of somatic disorders.

So they're pretty much everywhere.

Freud was not the first individual that noted the existence of essentially content arising from hearts of the mind that lie outside of our conscious awareness.
