This episode is a heartfelt celebration of part-time yoga teachers!
Too often, we hear part-time teachers being self-deprecating and implying that they don't feel like "real" yoga teachers.
So, we put out a call on social media for part-time yoga teachers to share your stories -- we asked you why you teach part-time, what keeps you going, and what the challenges are. We culled through the responses and share the highlights in this episode. The stories are inspiring and converge on a simple, yet powerful, truth: Part-time teachers make an invaluable contribution to the yoga community.

0:00.0 | Hey everyone. I'm Andrea Ferretti, and this is Yoga Land. |
0:10.0 | Hi there, Jason. Hi, Andrea. Are you ready for an old school classic episode of Yoga Land? |
0:15.1 | Yes, we are back to our traditional format for this one. We are going to celebrate part-time yoga teachers in this |
0:22.7 | episode. One of the reasons that this topic came up is that in conversation in our community, |
0:29.8 | especially in my teacher training programs, I feel like I hear this phrase a little too often, |
0:35.4 | which is, well, I'm just a part-time yoga teacher, but dot, dot, dot, dot. |
0:40.6 | And I've started to realize over the years that I think a lot of part-time yoga teachers |
0:46.4 | don't fully embrace their value and how important their job is. |
0:57.4 | And I think that a lot of times people that are part-time teachers either feel a little bit insecure or they feel a little bit like they aren't contributing |
1:05.8 | as much or they aren't as important or as serious of a teacher. And I just want to push back on that a little bit |
1:12.6 | and talk for a little bit about why part-time teachers are so incredibly valuable. And also, |
1:20.2 | we wanted to share the story of several teachers in our community who are part-time teachers. |
1:25.8 | Yes. I think we were talking about this earlier when we |
1:30.7 | decided to create this episode and the thinking was part-time teachers are absolutely legitimate |
1:37.1 | yoga teachers and sometimes they feel like they're not. So let's ask the community for their |
1:43.0 | stories. And so we did that on social media and we have a bunch of interesting feedback and stories to share with you. But first, I'll just mention that you have a 200-hour teacher training coming up in January. And the early bird for that is expiring soon. So if you're interested in that program, |
2:03.6 | go check it out, get yourself registered, and you will save $300 on the early bird pricing. |
2:09.2 | And that URL is jasonyoga.com slash 200. Before I jump into the stories of specific teachers, |
2:17.0 | you wanted to talk a little bit more about |
2:18.7 | teaching part-time. Yeah. And actually, that 200-hour training that you referenced is another |
2:23.9 | reason I was thinking about this topic or we were thinking about this topic is that most people |
2:28.6 | that do a 200-hour teacher training are not doing it to immediately become a full-time teacher or maybe even ever |
