When the history of this pandemic is written, this week will likely be remembered for one moment above all else.

The week the UK surpassed 100,000 coronavirus deaths. The death toll may indeed be higher than the official figure,

and for some 100,000 is an arbitrary marker by which to judge the extent of the tragedy

that has unfolded in the last 11 months.

But it prompted a moment of sober reflection across the nation of just how badly wrong it has

gone and posed difficult questions for the Prime Minister, questions he says will be answered,

but at a later date.
