What do you know for sure?

We're living in a world of uncertainty and an age of so much skepticism, frankly, and questions

that sometimes you've got to sit down

and think, all right, what do I know for certain? What is immovable, unchangeable, without question?

And I want to tell you that for a follower of Jesus Christ, a person who truly knows the Lord as their Savior, it brings a confidence

and a certainty in the midst of so much question. We are embarking on a brand new journey,

a journey through First John, and I'm so excited to study this book of the Bible with you.

It is one of John's little books, but it is packed with great truth. It's five chapters

long. It's found near the end of our New Testament, and not long before his final writing,

the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. But when you read

1st John, in so many ways it is going to be reminiscent of the gospel according to John.

Because, and you'll see this, I'll make reference to it again and again, like parallel tracks,

they both lead us deeper into our knowledge of who God is.

And may I just say, there is no knowledge greater than the knowledge of God.
