So what's the difference between an Ustad and a sheik?

And Ustad is simply the Arabic word for a teacher.

In modern standard Arabic, in an Arabi al-Lohasala it's used for a teacher. In modern standard Arabic,

in an Arabia and Lausira, it's used for a professor in college also.

I started getting called a stad when I first got a job at

NASA Community College teaching Arabic, and my students called me Ustath and my colleagues that were teaching Spanish or German or professor or whatever else, you know.

So that's how I got the term Ustath getting used for, I don't have a title, this is a thing.
