Our caller this week is Jennifer who lives in rural Vermont and

Jennifer has a good amount of kitchen tools and appliances she works with all the time

but there's one in her arsenal that she hasn't touched because she's afraid of it.

It's an instant pot. It's an instant pot. Okay, okay.

Yeah, which feels like it should be safe.

I feel like they built some safeguards into it, yeah.

I mean, a couple million people can't be wrong, right?

Yeah, and I've certainly done a lot of reading and speculating but for some reason the thing kind of

terrifies me and I don't know whether it's like I'm a fearful that I'm going to

get a steam burn or that it's going to explode I don't know where to get

started or what to cook in it.

Can I come clean here?

I feel the exact same way.

I have never used a pressure cooker other than, I want to say I was on outward bound, this was like 30 years ago,

but it was like we were making like lentils in a pressure cooker while like canoeing and

backpacking and like the pressure cooker is that existed 30 years ago I mean I think we had this thing like on you know a camp stove

it was like some old Oh, it was terrifying. I think the instant pot has done a

phenomenal job of making that technology both safer and feel more accessible to a lot more people such that it really created a bit of a phenomenon, you know?
