Welcome to The Roy's Report, a podcast dedicated to reporting the truth and restoring the

church. I'm Julie Roy's. And today, Joy Ryder joins me to tell her story and to highlight the

problem of clergy's sexual abuse and what we can do about it. Ryder's abuse happened in the

1970s when she was a teenager. However, several months ago, Ryder filed a lawsuit against not just her alleged

abuser, David Hiles, but against the estate of his father, Jack Hiles, Hiles Anderson College,

and First Baptist Church of Hammond. Ryder says all these institutions and Jack Hiles knew about her

from their positions. Yet Hiles has never publicly acknowledged the sins that he's committed

against Joy Rider and many others. And even though the allegations against him are criminal,

1:40.1

Hiles has never served time for what he allegedly did. Joy Rider's story is extremely important, and I'm so looking forward to talking with joy.
