I'm Joanna Penn, and this is episode number 756 of the podcast, and it is Friday the 14th of

In today's show, I'm talking about writing through fear with Caroline Donoghue.

And we talk about the most common fears that writers have, as well as our personal experiences of them,

how you can break through your fears to write what's on your heart,

and why many fears are so far ahead of

us, we should just ignore them and keep writing. For example, the fear of, what if I get cancelled

or sued for this book, yet you haven't even finished the first draft? So all of that is coming up

in the interview section.

In publishing things, the Alliance of Independent author's blog has an article on how to avoid indie author scams, which is a must read because seriously there are so many and I have

nearly fallen for a couple of them. It outlines the different types.

So literary, agent scams, film studio impersonators, review bombing extortion, publishing services,

Amazon partner scams, paid interviews, AI assisted plagiarism, phishing emails and more.

So definitely go and have a look at that. And in general, if you

get an email that says, oh, we've discovered your book and we really want to publish you or make a

movie of your book or interview you, but you just have to pay us, then that is not something to go

...
