James 517 tells us that Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are.

He lived and served God under a wicked king, and yet, in spite of the wickedness around him,

he was a man who not only walked with

God he had the power of God on his life in this study a man like us in times like

ours Scott Paulie will share encouragement from the life of Elijah that will help

Elijah had a lot of amazing assignments from the Lord, but none as important as his final assignment.

I remember Pastor Sexton saying in my hearing years ago that the problem of life is any time in life when you're in the will of God.

And the reality is you never know at what time in life you'll make your greatest contribution.

I really believe that often our greatest contribution is not what we get accomplished, but what we are used to the Lord to set in motion.

And that is why today I bring you back to 1 Kings 19, where we left off in our last study

and what the old radio commentator Paul Harvey used to call the rest of the story in 2nd

Kings chapter 2, because in 1st Kings 19, God said to Elijah, I want you to anoint

Elisha, the son of Sheffat, of Abah Mahola,

to be prophet in thy room.

Verse Kings chapter 19 and verse number 16.

Well, at the end of the chapter, beginning in verse 19, he departed thence and found

Elijah, the son of Sheffat, who was plowing with 12 yoke of oxen before him.

That was a sign of real wealth and power.

And he was the 12, and Elijah passed by him and cast his mantle upon him. And he left the oxen

and ran after Elijah and said, let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother. And then I will follow
