The Johnson City Scandal

When 32-year-old Mikayla Evans fell five stories from a condo window in Johnson City, Tennessee, she woke from a coma with no memory of what happened, but with a shattered body and a chilling certainty: she had been drugged. Her fall led to disturbing allegations, not just against the man who owned the condo, Sean Williams, but against the very police department tasked with investigating him. As federal prosecutor Kat Dahl dug deeper, she uncovered a horrifying pattern of abuse, ignored reports, and possible corruption that may have enabled one of the most prolific sexual predators in recent history. Joyce McKinney Part 1

Buckle up for one of the most bizarre, over-the-top, and unbelievable tales of obsession, love, and maybe a little delusion—it's the story of Joyce McKinney. This case has everything: a beauty queen with a genius IQ, a dash of Mormon royalty, chloroform, and even a wig named Matilda. Joyce’s quest to rescue her "star-crossed lover" Kirk Anderson took her from the Appalachian Mountains to the English countryside and into the headlines of tabloids worldwide. But what’s the truth behind the story? Tabloids painted her as a villain, Joyce saw herself as a romantic heroine, and somewhere in between lies a tale stranger than fiction. Join us as we dive into this wild ride—because once Joyce sets her sights on something, you better watch out. The Murder of Lita McClinton

The Baker Butcher

This week, Kristin and Mogab are joined by special guest and friend of the podcast, Destiny, to tell them a truly atrocious story. Throughout the 70s and 80s, young women in Alaska were vanishing without a trace. These women had fallen prey to a sinister figure who took advantage of the wild Alaskan landscape, but their stories were largely ignored until one courageous woman managed to survive and broke the silence. But would she ever be able to find anyone to believe her story? Sponsors: Quince Go to quince.com/creepers for free shipping and 365-day returns! The Hinterkaifeck Murders

In April of 1922, neighbors of the Gruber-Gabriel family stumbled upon a grizzly scene on a remote farmstead near Gröbern, Bavaria called Hinterkaifeck. They found all 6 residents - Andreas and CĂ€zilia Gruber, their daughter Viktoria, her children CĂ€zilia and Josef, and their maid Maria Baumgartner - bludgeoned to death with a farm tool. When police began their investigation they realized something incredibly eerie - the killer had remained on the property for several days after the murder, feeding the farm animals and using the kitchen, before vanishing without a trace. The investigation would lead to wild speculation about family secrets and local suspects, but the case remains unsolved, cementing it as one of Germany’s most chilling true crime mysteries. The Murder of Jennifer Myers

On August 5, 1996, 43-year-old Jennifer Myers was working alone at the Tailfeather Art Gallery in West Manchester Township, PA. Just before 11 AM, a man walked in, pulled a gun, and demanded money. The robber was interrupted by an unexpected delivery and fled, but he was quickly identified as a man named Kevin Dowling and arrested. But as the trial approached, Jennifer was found brutally murdered in the very gallery she worked. Police were convinced Kevin was the killer, but he had an alibi so airtight it seemed impossible—timestamped footage showed him fishing miles away on the day of the murder. So, who really killed Jennifer Myers? Or did Kevin Dowling somehow pull off the perfect crime? Sponsors: Quince Go to quince.com/creepers for free shipping and 365-day returns! The Case of Lydia Fairchild

In 2002, 26 year old single mother, Lydia Fairchild, found herself facing hard times. She decided to apply for government assistance, which required a DNA test to prove that she and the babies’ father, Jamie Townsend, were the parents of the children. It was just a standard procedure. But the results of the test were absolutely shocking: Jamie was confirmed as the father, but the tests showed that Lydia was not the mother of her own children. But how could that be? The Murder of Julie Jensen

On December 3, 1998, 39-year-old Mark Jensen called 911 to report that something was terribly wrong with his wife, 40-year-old Julie Jensen. He had arrived home to find her lying in bed, looking as if she were simply resting. She looked perfectly fine, healthy even. But she wasn't breathing. First responders arrived within minutes, but their efforts were in vain—Julie was already gone, and it was clear she had been dead for some time. But how? There were no visible signs of injury or trauma, no evidence of drug use or anything that could explain her sudden death. The questions began to pile up: How could someone who seemed so healthy die so suddenly? What had really happened behind the closed doors of the Jensen home that day? The answers would be more shocking than anyone could have imagined. After ending a 12 year relationship, Dave Kroupa decided to get back out there, and he signed up for online dating. After several months of dating a few different women, he met Cari Farver. She seemed perfect: incredibly smart, fun, and looking for a casual relationship, like him. But then, after dating for two weeks, Cari texted Dave asking if they should move in together. He was confused - he'd thought they were on the same page, so he told her no. And then he received a message back from Cari filled with vulgar, abusive insults and threats. And the messages didn't stop coming. He received hundreds a day for YEARS. Dave wanted the messages to stop, but Cari Farver could not be found. This week, we're talking about the kidnapping of Denise Huskins. In the middle of the night on March 22, 2015, a group of broke into the home of Aaron Quinn and kidnapped his girlfriend, Denise Huskins. Aaron's story involved kidnappers wearing wet suits who played pre-recorded messages and wanted very little ransom for Denise's return. His story seemed so unbelievable to police, who were convinced early on that Aaron had done something to Denise. When that seemed unlikely, they formed a new theory: that Denise had never been kidnapped, and she was actually the real life Gone Girl.'' The West Memphis Three - Part 1

The first installment of our 3 parter on the West Memphis Three. In this episode, we dive deep into the tragic murders of three young boys – Christopher Byers, Stevie Branch, and Michael Moore. These murders shook the tight-knit community of West Memphis, Arkansas to its core. As details emerged, whispers of a Satanic cult swirled around town. The scene of the crime seemed to bear the marks of a ritualistic killing, leaving residents terrified and searching for answers. Enter 18-year-old Damien Echols. Law enforcement quickly became convinced that he was behind these murders, but it wasn't a thorough investigation or good old fashioned police work that brought them to that conclusion. The Murder of Mirna Salihin

Mirna Salihin was on top of the world - she'd recently married her long time boyfriend in a beautiful wedding in Bali and was looking forward to her upcoming honeymoon in South Korea. On January 6, 2016, she went to meet some friends at the Olivier Cafe in the upscale Grand Indonesia Shopping Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia. She took a seat at the booth her friend had saved for them and took a sip of her Vietnamese Iced Coffee as she chatted away with her friends. But there was something wrong with the coffee. It tasted rotten. Almost immediately after taking that sip of her coffee, Mirna began experiencing convulsions and foaming at the mouth. Within an hour of taking that sip, 26 year old Mirna would be dead. Had this been a tragic medical emergency, or was there something more sinister at play? Sponsors: Prose!
