Summary

In this week's episode of Controversial Thoughts I wanted to rant a bit about freedom and censorship as we approach July 4th.

According to Dr. Fauci, we can do whatever we want on the 4th of July if we are vaccinated, but does that mean we can talk about potential downsides of the vaccine? What about ivermectin? How about diet and nutrition and the role metabolic health plays in the course of COVID? Don't think so.

Speaking too loudly about those things will get you censored on many platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube (props to Twitter for allowing much of this dialogue to happen). Who writes the community guidelines, anyway?

And more importantly, who will write our history? Zuckerberg? Big pharma?

I pray not!

As July the fourth approaches, I wanted to riff a little bit today on censorship.

0:12.0

And I don't know if talking about censorship will get me censored on YouTube and Instagram,

0:19.0

but I wanted to talk a little bit about this because everybody's going to shout from the hills, freedom, freedom.

0:26.0

That's what makes America great. That's what July the fourth is about. I agree with it.

Proud to be a citizen in the United States, providing me with an incredible upbringing,

and a lot of freedoms that I enjoyed that we take for granted as Americans.

As many of you know, I spend part of my time during the year in Costa Rica,

0:44.0

and there's a real contrast between the two countries in many ways, but the thing that's valuable to us as Americans is freedom.

0:52.0

That's huge, it's hugely important. And though many of the social media platforms that we exist upon,

0:59.0

whether you're watching this on YouTube or Instagram, they're owned by other people, they're owned by businesses.

1:06.0

Which means that we can't speak our minds freely anymore. And I accept that.

1:11.0

I'm willing to accept that trade. That's a trade that we've all made when we've chosen to be posting our stuff on YouTube or Instagram,

1:20.0

or Facebook for that matter, but really who uses Facebook now anyway.

1:25.0

But in all of these places, there are these community guidelines, which are determined by who knows who,

1:30.0

not the community. It's a complete misnomer. There's no community determining the community guidelines.

1:35.0

It's a business guideline from YouTube, probably connected with funding advertisers, etc.

1:41.0

And it's pretty clear that on Facebook, Instagram, they're both owned by Zuckerberg,

1:46.0

or Emperor Zuckerberg, perhaps you should say. That's obviously tongue in cheek.

1:51.0

Or YouTube, there is no tolerance of anything that goes against mainstream narratives of COVID,

1:57.0

or mainstream narratives of vaccination.

2:00.0

And I don't want to get into details of that today, but I will talk about the things that I've posted,
