We don't know a lot about the early years of Nicholas James Kedrowitz who was 13 years old back in May of 2017 when this case began, but we do know some.

We know that the now 17-year-old had lived in Elizabethtown, Indiana and just about finished grade school at Rock Creek Elementary before moving to Richmond, Indiana in 2014.

By 2017, Kedrowitz and his family had settled in Osgood, Indiana, about 60 miles south of Cincinnati with his mother Christina McCartney, who said in 2018 interviews that he was spontaneous in quote, every mom's dream child.

2:59.8

The kids, as McCartney called them, were almost two-year-old Desiree and one-year-old Abigail, who along with Kedrowitz were her biological children, as well as almost one-year-old Nathaniel Ritz, the son of her fiance Steven.

Her fiance Steven Ritz told police that the two babies Abigail and Nathaniel had been in the living room crying, but that Desiree was in the bathtub, so he asked Kedrowitz to grab her PJs and diaper and get her dress for bed.

4:20.8

When Ritz got back, he said that Kedrowitz was crying and holding a lifeless Desiree wrapped in a towel. He said she wasn't breathing.
