Welcome back to Scripture Central. I'm Lynn Hilton Wilson.

And I'm Jack Welch.

And today we get to continue in our Savior's second day.

We started last week in chapter 19 as he came to visit the Nephites in Third Nephi.

And now today we'll be looking at chapters 20 to 26.

Well, welcome to these chapters. They are difficult chapters. We grant you that, but it's well

worth the effort. And we haven't changed our clothes from the recording that we just finished, where we

ended with chapter 19, and that's because we want you to remember that chapter 19 is the beginning

of day two, and we won't get to the end of day two until chapter 26 is finished.

So we're trying to give some coherence to that, but obviously in chapter 19, just to remember,

Jesus gave many teachings, and especially the high-prieftly

prayer, blessing the people, and wanting them to understand and have the gift of the Holy

Ghost and its gifts.

One of the gifts of the Holy Ghost is the spirit of prophecy.

And Jesus wants us to understand prophecy is not only to understand the future, but to be able

to prophesy about things that we need to do right now.

What we're getting here in these chapters is Jesus going over the history of the covenant

and prophecies made about the covenant that the Lord made with the House of Israel,

and He wants these people more than anything else to realize that God will always keep

every one of his promises.

God's covenants are secure.

Why might he have wanted to emphasize that with these people?
