0:00.0	Hello there. My name is Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:06.0	Today, Mormon chapters 1 through 6.
0:10.0	And for those of you who are familiar with the Book of Mormon, this particular set of chapters,
0:18.0	these six chapters in that littler book called the Book of Mormon, they are not
0:25.2	the happiest part of the history of the Nephites and Lamanites. This is the sad ending to the
0:35.1	geopolitical group, that Nephite nation.
0:39.9	And there's not a lot of positive and happy moments in these six chapters,
0:49.0	which brings up this incredible opportunity for us for a lifelong learning overlay before we dive in.
0:57.0	And it is this. What do you do when everywhere you look around you,
1:05.0	you just see trouble, you see despair, you see opposition. You see setback. You may even see death and loss and significant
1:21.5	negatively impacting events taking place all around you everywhere you look. That is the story
1:30.3	that we see facing Mormon and his family at this time when the Nephite nation is in such
1:38.3	serious decline heading to its end. The power of these chapters for me is to see Mormon show us an example,
1:51.8	this Christ-like example, of noticing what's happening around him horizontally,
1:58.9	but keeping his focus fiercely fixed heavenward on the Lord.
2:07.1	It's as if he's showing us this pattern that the darker the night, the brighter his capacity
2:14.9	to see the light becomes, and the more closely connected to the Lord, he becomes,
2:21.7	even as everything around him is sinking in destruction and despair. Now, you and I don't live
2:31.2	in a time like Mormon where everything is headed to destruction. We live in the
2:38.5	dispensation of the fullness of times when the gospel of Jesus Christ is going to continue to
2:44.5	roll forward. The kingdom is going to spread and they're going to be incredible miracles. But that doesn't mean that
2:53.5	individually and collectively we might not experience some major setback and some major loss at
