were former colleagues. Today we get to speak to retired agent Elizabeth Morales, who served in the

FBI for 24 years, and retired agent Edmondo Morales, Jr., who served in the FBI for 25 years.

In this episode, Liz and Ed review the 1983 kidnapping conspiracy case, where the wife of a retired

former Colombian ambassador to the United States was abducted

at gunpoint from the driveway of her home near Miami. The investigation took place in

Miami, Alexandria, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Liz and Ed were among the hundreds of FBI agents working 24-7 to find the

kidnapping victim before her abductors made good on their threat to kill her. In their recently

After graduating from the FBI Academy, Liz was initially assigned to the Atlanta Division in Georgia,

where she worked on a variety of cases, including the Wayne Williams' missing and murdered

children investigation. A year later, she was transferred to the Miami Field Office,

where she was assigned to a foreign counterintelligence squad, FCI, specializing in

Cuban matters. She became one of two long-term undercover agents in an FCI investigation that

involved several other federal agencies. The other UCA was a new agent named Ed Morales, who was assigned to the Washington Field Office.

After this assignment, Liz became the team leader for the Miami Division's newly established

evidence response team, ERT. And she and Ed started dating. Once they got married, he was transferred to Miami. After Ed was

injured in the Miami shootout, Liz and Ed were transferred to the FBI Academy at Quantico,

Virginia, while Ed underwent several reconstructive surgeries. Later in her career, Liz was assigned back to Miami and then to the

Omaha office and the Phoenix Division's Tucson Resident Agency, where she was the ERT team leader,
