Hello and welcome to Iroquois History and Legends. I'm Andrew. And I'm Caleb and welcome to our ninth episode on the

Erichoy Influence in the American Revolution. And Andrew on top of that, this is also our 50th

episode. So thank you very much for everybody that stuck with us this long. If you're still here,

if you're not, I guess we wouldn't know. And neither would you because you're not listening.

But for those of you that are

listening, thank you very much. There will be much more to come. But let's get on with it, Andrew. We are

going to finish up the American Revolution today. So this will probably be a pretty hefty episode.

So let's go back and kind of sum up what happened last week with the Sullivan campaign.

General Sullivan came up into western and central

New York, pretty much burned everything in sight, and it forced the Kyuga and Seneca to seek

refuge at Fort Niagara where they had a horrible winter and hundreds and perhaps even thousands of

people starved to death because of the cold and lack in want to food.

And this just didn't affect the enemies of the Americans. The Oneida and parts of the Tuscarora and

Onondaga have either been allies or neutral with the Americans, but this has had a bad effect on them,

too, because they're actually really struggling themselves as far as food and everything

like that and this is forcing them to kind of rub shoulders and ask for help from their brothers

the seneca and the keuga at fort niagara and people are saying why are you here asking for food

you've been helping the amer, and they caused all this.

So there's a lot of strife for both the enemies and the allies of the Patriots.

During this horrible winter of 1780, Brant was stationed at Fort Niagara, and he was cross.

As we had discussed, some of the Tuscarora and Onidas showed up at Fort Niagara looking for food

and help, and Brant was pretty blunt with them. He told them that their families would get nothing
