My name is Elisa Keaton, and I have hated my body.

I didn't know I was hating my body, but now I can look back and see I have had times in my life that I've hated my body.

That word hate is to have a deep frustration, like a vexing.

And as a 33 year fitness professional in the health and fitness industry and a once upon a time

fitness competitor, bodybuilder, deep in the 90s I was doing that.

I fell into this. I thought I was doing health. I thought I was making some type of name for

myself so that people could come and train with me and get better, kind of building up some

accolades. But I look back at that time now. And I can see that I was consistently

and constantly scrutinizing my body. Constantly. What started out as a good thing, which was health,

turned into this God thing. Like I got to fix this. I can find my way through. And so on that journey, I have hated my body.

I saw my body as something that I could fix up like a prized penthouse on Park Avenue and perhaps
