Really excited for this episode. This is a cool one because we get into why

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency's are so disruptive and not in the ways that you might think.

So most of us think of Bitcoin as this thing

that you read about in the press and it's doubled or tripled

over the course of 12 or 18 months

and it's really exciting

and you want to speculate and you want to buy and hold a couple coins and you might get rich and cash it back out for US dollars or euros and that's what really gets us excited about cryptocurrency is that idea of making a little bit of money.

But what I think is even more fascinating is this idea of real-time currencies and decoupling currency from the government, what that means

for third world countries, what that means for us everywhere else.

And this idea of applications

being built on the back of cryptocurrency,

fully decentralized storage, complete privacy, where you can't track how much is being sent, or the

parties that are sending that currency and what that means for us.

Smart contracts and how those operate.

So Andreas M Antonopoulos is a great guest to have on the show

because he is a true believer and he certainly educated me a ton when it comes to this.

He's the author of three books,

mastering Bitcoin from O'Reilly, which is a really hardcore technical manual from

O'Reilly. They always put out really technical books. You've probably seen some of their books

with pictures of different animals on the covers,
