Hey, Jordan Listeners. This is part two in my deep dive on apologies and forgiveness.

0:04.7

I am going to be recording probably several chapters in this deep dive, spanning, I'm guessing,

0:10.8

a lot of hours, maybe up to 20 plus hours. I didn't realize that apology, research, and thought,

0:18.9

and experience would take up that much time, but there's really so much to talk about when we talk

0:24.4

about apologies. It's not a simple topic. It involves all of us and all of our relationships,

0:30.4

almost all of the time. As an exercise, you can ask yourself, what apology would you love to receive

0:37.4

from a loved one, whether it's your partner or your parents or an old friend? What apology would

0:42.4

you love to get from that person, but might have given up on ever receiving it? Imagine if you

0:47.8

actually did get that sincere apology, how good that would feel, and how transformative that

0:54.0

would be to your life, to your working models of self and other, to your relationship with that

0:59.1

person. And so this is part two in that deep dive. And I thought I'd started off by analyzing

1:04.4

Good evening. This afternoon in this room, from this chair, I testified before the office of

1:17.2

independent council and the grand jury. I answered their questions truthfully, including questions

1:24.4

about my private life. Questions no American citizen would ever want to answer.

1:31.3

Still, I must take complete responsibility for all my actions, both public and private.

1:36.2

All right, so I know a bit about the history of this. I was an adult when this happened and

1:42.8

was following the news sort of, but I have since seen a number of documentaries and think pieces

1:48.8

on this whole event I've heard from Monica Lewinsky herself talk about what was going on back then.

1:54.9

And my personal and clinical opinion has changed over time because I've changed it's a human being

2:00.9

in terms of awareness of sexism and workplace sexual harassment. And also I've been given more

2:07.3

information as more information has come out. But anyway, to analyze his apology, this is him
