terms of that spring statement. How much trouble is he in? Well, I think we've reached the

such good press when he became chancellor that it was never going to last. Here was the guy who

was dropped into his first budget with just a few weeks of spare. He did it brilliantly and dropped

straight into a pandemic where he handled it well emotionally and politically as well as

financially. He introduced the furlough scheme which was a huge success, a scheme which will probably

define him for a good or ill with the rest of his time as a politician. But of course, it's so easy,
