Today I'm talking to Arise Wanzer primarily about dating.

She talks about not being interested in teaching Trans 101 on dates, when to ask or not

ask about surgeries when you're going out with someone,

and also something that surprises me.

Arise talks about trans women beginning to use Grindr to meet straight guys,

and she describes Grindr as a really amazing tool for dating when you're trans.

So that is coming up.

So your new web series is called Fish Tank. It is about the dating and sex lives of two trans women.

And so in honor of that, we wanted to have a conversation centered primarily on dating, which I'm really excited about.

I'm really excited about it. I've written about dating for years, and I've been dating for longer. I swear to God. So tell me this. There's been a massive learning curve in the last

three to four years about the understanding and awareness of trans people just in general. Have you seen

that affected in your dating life? Actually, yes. I think people are a lot more open to dating trans women now that they understand, like, that they're women. Like, you know, just like anybody else, like, where people, we have flaws. Some of us are full pieces of crap. I'm finding that when I date people and they haven't, uh, maybe experienced, like, dating a trans person, they're a lot more open to it. And they have
