Cal Worthington probably did more than anyone

to create the idea of what we think of as a used car salesman, mainly because he spent millions of dollars

blanketing the airwaves of the West Coast with his self-made TV commercials for

over 40 years. His trademark was Cal Worthington and his dog spot.

But it was never a dog. It was sometimes a killer whale, a gorilla, a bear.

This is a big old giant, friendly supermarket of cars.
