Hey everybody welcome back to another cold case murder mini.

I'm your host Ryan Kraus in today's mystery we need to solve us the answer to this

question. How did actor Brandon Lee, son of legendary martial arts icon Bruce Lee, actually

die? We've been told it was an accident and not murder. But let's take a look.

Now, Lee was filming a new movie in North Carolina at the time, and he was one of those charismatic B-movie guys you could really see making a leap to more mainstream Hollywood fair as his popularity grew, which is what makes the incident even that much more tragic. He succumbed to a fate that was very much like his

fathers, one that was shrouded in mystery, and at nearly the same age. So on this day he died,

he's on set filming a scene for the Crow, where he walks into an apartment and witnesses his fiance being raped and beaten.

And this is where actor Michael Massey is tasked with firing a 44 Magnum Revolver in Brandon's direction.

The only thing is, one of these rounds, for whatever reason, is live. It's not a blank. But why? I mean, somebody would have to substitute it, right? And of

course, that makes it murder. So how do we legitimize the classification as an accident?

Well, it seems the reason the general public got that explanation is that the crew took a dangerous

shortcut in preparing the weapon.

You see, they exchanged dummy cartridges from a previous scene they filmed with blank rounds

that actually have powder charge in primer.

Of course, the bullets are absent from blanks, so there's no projectile.

However, in this case, the crew opted to remove the bullets from the previous scene and reuse the cartridges as blanks by adding the charge and primer.

Unfortunately for Brandon, one of the bullets was not in fact removed from the weapon but accidentally got pushed part way into the barrel,

where it remained out of sight.

And for Michael Massey, this is also not a pleasant experience, as he ultimately and ignorantly is the

poor bastard who pulled the trigger.

Accordingly, the gun was able to fire at nearly maximum force.

And it goes without saying that if you know what a Magnum 44 looks like,
