What a difference a week makes. Seven days ago, Vladimir Zelensky got roughed up in the Oval Office and booted from the White House. It looked as if tariffs were going to come raining down upon the world like never before. It looked as if Donald Trump had chummed up with Vladimir Putin and the sky was falling.

State of the Union address like nothing ever heard before.

And here we are.

A week later, an up looks like down and down looks like up.

And what he said isn't what he said at all.

Marion, all it took, though, was one meeting in the Oval Office, a few ignorant words to Zelensky.

And Donald Trump is off the hook for a few billion dollars in Ukraine aid.

Surely he and J.D. Vance are high-fiving over Europe's plan to stump up the

cash that up to last week he would have had to find himself. God, Charlotte, there are so many

issues and so many things to unpack in just that one sentence. First of all, he had no intention

of finding the cash anyway. Biden did a big rush through at the end where he was trying to shovel through, I think

about $8 billion worth of aid and get it over as quickly as possible because he knew, and everyone

knew that once Trump came in, the Republicans had already tried to block the $60 billion

package at his behest. They knew that once Trump got in the door,

there was no more aid for Ukraine. So I don't think, you know, this to me had all the appearance

of a manufactured spat in the Oval Office. And I, you know, it's been spoken about at length,

but it really was disgraceful and disgusting and stomach churning to see the

sort of calculated humiliation of Vladimir Zelensky, whose courage just continues, I think,

to awe any right-thinking person, not just his courage and his leadership of Ukraine, but his

courage in standing up to the world's thugs, be it Vladimir Putin and now Donald Trump and

me and J.D. Vance. Well, it's saying that, Mary, I mean, this is why I open the show the way I do.

Just now, as I open my laptop, the headline reads, Trump threatens new sanctions

...
