And I'm Bryce.

And today we're going to be in Moroni 1 through 6.

This is kind of the second ending, isn't it, Bryce?

Yeah. First he ended when he thought he was going to end, and then he lives much longer.

Chapter 1, he clearly says, I did not

expect to have this amount of time to write. I'm hiding from the Lamanites. I love the line they put to

death every Nephite that will not deny the Christ, and I love this next line, and I Moroni will

not deny the Christ, meaning if they find me, I know they're going to

kill me, but they haven't found me yet. And so I continue to write, which is interesting because

now what does he put in? I wonder if he wrote chapter one before he wrote the book of ether.

And I know Mike's going to talk about that in a bit. I wonder if he says, well, let's throw in the book of ether. And then after the book of ether, his question is, what is missing? What does the book not yet have? Looking back over the whole history of the Book of Mormon, what are some of the small little cracks in the wall that I can fill? And so chapters two through six seem to focus on the role of the

church, because if you think about the book of Mormon, nowhere in the book of Mormon do we ever get

to look into the church and see what church is like, especially post-law of Moses.

So when Jesus fulfills the law of Moses and institutes a whole new system

with sacrament and all of that, what does sacrament meeting look like? What does church services

look like? And so Moroni must have looked back and said, you know what, that's nowhere in the

text. And so he begins to throw in the function of the church.
