Hello there. My name is Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.

0:07.7

Today, Ether chapters 1 through 5. As we jump into these particular chapters, I want to discuss this incredible need that we have to connect with heaven, to connect with God, and to receive

0:26.7

and recognize and act on revelation. So as a lifelong teaching overlay, there's something I want to discuss here. A couple of different

0:41.9

approaches you can take to Scripture study. You can either go into Scripture study looking

0:48.8

specifically for answers to particular questions that you may have are seeking direction for some decisions

0:58.7

you need to make or to help you solve some problems that are very unique or specific to

1:05.0

that time or place in your life. Or you can simply open the scriptures and try to immerse in the history, in the

1:15.5

problems and the setting and the struggles that the people were facing at that time, and then

try to find application to be generally applied from their story into your specific story. So you'll notice whether

1:33.2

you bring your problems into the Scriptures or whether you find the questions and answers

1:39.2

and problems and the solutions in the Scriptures and bring them out into your life, it doesn't matter.

will benefit you with whatever approach you want to take with them. Now, some people will

1:59.9

have greater effect by using one more than the other

2:06.6

approach and that's fine. It doesn't mean that that's a one-size-fits-all for everybody.

2:12.7

But the point is, as we jump in today, I'm going to take the approach of doing a little bit of both where

2:22.3

we begin with a scenario or it's this idea if you're teaching in the church or if you're

2:30.7

raising children or teaching family members, it can be very helpful to meet people

2:37.7

where they are and then help raise them to the next level. It's the X plus one principle

2:45.0

of instruction. So you find out where they are. You come in to help them get ready to learn by giving a scenario,

2:54.7

a case study, a story, a situation that would cause them to perk up their ears and listen

3:02.6

more closely and say, hey, yeah, that sounds like you're talking about something that's
