0:00.0	Hello there. My name is Tyler Griffin and this is Scripture Study Insights by Scripture Central.
0:07.0	Today, Mormon chapters 7, 8, and 9.
0:11.5	And this is a fascinating section of the overall Book of Mormon story because chapter 7 happens to be the final chapter written by Mormon,
0:25.5	the chief abridger. And it's fascinating to note of all the things that he could have talked
0:31.7	about in his last chapter, he chooses to address the latter-day descendants of the Lamanites. Now, there's
0:43.3	something beautifully Christ-like about what's going on here, and I want to use that as one
0:49.0	of a couple lifelong learning overlays that we use for these chapters today. Number one, if you consider
0:57.8	what would you say to a group of people who are descended from an entire population that destroyed
1:08.1	your family, your nation, your people, and killed everybody, I don't know that many of us
1:16.7	would be prone to speak kindly to that group, but we see this beautiful Christ-like principle
1:23.3	of forgiveness, of not holding grudges, this charity, this pure love of Christ that flows
1:32.4	through Mormon, and you see it in his words, right out of the first verse in chapter
1:38.3	seven, he says, and now behold, I would speak somewhat unto the remnant of this people who are spared."
1:46.0	It's important to note the context for this chapter, knowing it's his last and knowing what happened in the chapter right before.
1:53.0	It was that great battle at Camorra and we don't know the timeline.
1:58.0	So we don't know the exact timing for when chapter 7 was written by Mormon. It could
2:05.1	have been as soon as a day or two or three, a few days after the final battle at Camorra, as he
2:14.1	described it in Mormon chapter 6, the chapter 8 before, which happened in 385 AD.
2:23.3	Or the other end extreme, we know that Moroni gives us a time stamp in Mormon chapter 8, verse 6,
2:33.3	behold, 400 years have passed away since the coming of our
2:36.5	Lord and Savior. So using the Nephite calendar 400 years would put it at the year 401
2:44.5	AD. So it's somewhere in that range.
