Sometimes when you're reading the Bible, you feel like it's deja vu.

You think, I think I've heard that before.

I think I've read that before.

That is especially true

at certain portions of scripture. For example, you read the book of Exodus and then you read

Deuteronomy, the second law, and there is so much repetition of it. You can read Peter's

writings and the book of Jude and think, wait a minute, this is a mirror of itself.

You can read the gospel records and have a sense of that. But in a very real sense, there are

repeated truths woven all through Scripture. And the reason they're repeated is they're repeated

for emphasis. These are the unchanging principles that we must

come back to again and again. And if God saw fit to say it over and over, we should be content to

study it over and over because we're forgetful people. And just because we hear it once doesn't

mean we remember it. And just because we remember it doesn't mean we're obeying it. And today we're returning to one of those oft-repeated principles, especially in

1-John, and it is in relationship to love. You remember, just a few studies ago, we established the
