Welcome to Goop Tales, episode 47, Zeme Sneeze and the Big Freeze of Niagara Falls.

I'm Maria Kalincini, and I'm the author of Goop Tales. And can you believe we're episode 47 already?

Um, yeah, that's the 47th Goop out of 52, but we've still got five more to go after this.

So, and then I'll start combining them.

But I wanted to tell you, first of all, it took me a little bit longer to make this story

than usual because I moved and I'm living in a new place.

But good news is I love the new place and I'm not going to move again for a very, very long time.

So thanks for your patience.

And I want to give a little special shout out to somebody named

Adrian and his mom, Natalie, who live, they live in Los Angeles. And Adrian wrote me a very sweet

email telling me how much he loves goop tails and loves listening to it while he's driving

and while he's coloring and that his favorite goop is exaspering. And he couldn't wait for

Zeeam's knees to come out. So Adrian, this one's for you. Before we get started, I want to tell you a couple fun facts about Niagara Falls that I

found out while researching the story. And they actually pertain to what goes on in the story.

So listen closely. So the first one is that in 2012, there was a man named Nick Walenda that did a tight rope walk across Niagara Falls, which go from New York to Canada or Canada to New York, however you want to look at it.

There's three waterfalls. And he had to get permission from both the U.S. and the Canadian

government in order to walk the tightrope across the falls. And he landed in Canada, and he actually

had to present his passport to the Canadian government before he could get off the tightrope. So I thought that was kind of interesting.

And the other thing is, is that fish, when they go over Niagara Falls,

almost all the fish survive, even though it's really fast and steep rushing water,

just because they're able to go with the flow of the water.

Pretty much anybody else probably would not survive.
