And our text for today is from the book of Hebrews.

Little trivia question because we're in the book of Hebrews. Little trivia question, because we're

in the middle of a core round right now.

Hebrews was written by, we don't know,

a trick question, great, we're doing awesome here. We don't know who wrote the book of Hebrews, which is interesting. It's not all that important. If we needed to know, we would know. We don't need to know who wrote it. What we do need to know is what the message was.

So while the messenger, we don't know the message,

we do know, and ultimately we know that the messenger

was the spirit of God inspiring these words.

And the message today rings loud and clear for us.

The book of Hebrew was written to Christians

with a Jewish background living in the first century.

They were being tempted to give up, to drift away, to cash in their faith, to quit, to retreat back to a former form of religion that was safer, less confrontational, less suffering, less on the line, more familiar, more

predictable.

And the author of Hebrew writes, and really this is a book about endurance, persistence, and he's writing going, keep going,

don't quit, hold fast is a theme that runs throughout the book.

And really it's just kind of a theme over the whole book
