I want to hit you with a statement. I want you to talk me through it because this is not a traditional

podcast episode where we're talking about buying an Airbnb and then another Airbnb next year

and kind of using the revenue snowball to

build a hospitality portfolio. Talk to me about the process of turning a tree house into a $29 million

business. Like, what happened? And how did this go? So, yeah, there's a little more to the story

than one tree house into a $29 million business.

I actually started in commodity Airbnbs, more of like single family homes.

And I built up a management company from eight units to 200.

Most of our inventory was urban.

So it was city properties.

And then when COVID hit, that business dried up overnight, basically, at least for a couple

months.

And that's really what

pushed me into doing something more experiential, a little more aspirational, and what became

my first treehouse hotel, O'Nara. So it was during COVID, I had just gotten off a road trip

with my wife. So for our honeymoon, we did a southwestern U.S. road trip.

We hit like a dozen national parks over a 10 week period. Did RV life. I mean, the whole thing was a

blast. But the RV gaffs, like the DPF filter going out and my boots flying out of the side

compartment in the middle of the highway, like all that stuff we could kind of do without.
