Summary

I feel like the title of this episode really bottom-lines what’s happening here. Clement Greenberg takes a stand at Jackson’s funeral, Lee doesn’t stand near anyone, and I can’t stand math. We finally get to talk about what Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings are. And for that, we need the assistance of nerds. So let's watch some ocean waves crash, talk about D ratio with Benoit Mandelbrot, and try to measure a coastline before our brains melt. A full series is now officially in the books. 0:00.0	Oh, When the car crashed they were only about 300 yards away from the house they almost made it home.
0:22.0	After they hit two trees the car flipped end over end,
0:25.0	and when it finally landed, it landed upside down on top of Edith Metzger,

0:55.1	The car was going so fast that it was estimated he covered that 50 feet in under a second
0:59.8	and the coroner's report said he was alive until he hit his head on a tree about 10 feet off the ground.
1:05.4	The damage to his body was so extensive that an open casket just was not an option.
1:10.5	The next day Clement Greenberg found out that Lee was staying at their friend and fellow artist place, Paul Jenkins apartment in Paris.
1:17.0	Clement called Jenkins and said that he needed to tell him something and that what he did Jenkins needed to stay calm and as soon
1:24.6	as Jenkins turned to tell Lee what happened she could already tell and she
1:27.9	said Jackson is dead and then her screams were apparently absolutely horrifying and she just collapsed.
1:35.9	She got back to Springs two days later and she started to plan Jackson's funeral.
1:40.1	When the rest of the Pollack family got to springs, it got a little bit awkward.
1:43.3	Stella tried to give Lee a hug and Lee pushed her away and said,
1:46.4	quote, where were you when he needed you?
1:48.6	Which is both a fair and unfair thing to say.
1:51.8	I can only imagine the level of grief, anger, just the utter devastation that was happening.
1:57.0	Jackson's funeral was on Wednesday, August 15, 1956 at the Springs Chapel.
2:02.0	Before the funeral, Hans Nemuth tried to get a picture of Jackson's body because it's Hans Nemuth and he just really can't help himself.
