I'm Gianna Jalosi with your Fox True Crime Minute. A trial is now underway in Tennessee

more than five years after a mom allegedly murdered her baby.

Megan Boswell charged with felony murder in the death of her daughter Evelyn, who was reported missing by Megan's dad in February of 2020.

He told police he hadn't seen the 15-month-old since December.

An Amber Alert was sent out, which launched a multi-state investigation.

Through the hunt, police said Boswell changed her story multiple times, first saying Evelyn was with her father and then saying Evelyn was with her grandmother.

The search lasted 17 days before Evelyn's remains were found in a garbage can in a playhouse on the Boswell family property.

Megan Boswell, now 23 years old, was indicted on murder and other charges in August of 2020 and pleaded not guilty.

During opening statements last week, the defense argued the state doesn't have enough evidence to convict,

arguing it's possible Boswell or her boyfriend rolled over Evelyn in bed and were too scared to call 911.
