Today we're going to be talking about castor oil, not topical application, but the potential

therapeutic benefits in a hair loss prevention capacity of using it orally.

So this is something I don't see talked about very often, but it's actually a pretty well-established

treatment among some, like, I don't know, hair loss researchers and stuff.

And it seems to work to some extent.

And the reason it seems to work is the composition of it and the ricinleic acid in particular in castor oil.

So it's been shown to be a potent PGE2 agonist.

So it, you know, stimulates PGE2 and can, in fact, potentially have an antagonizing effect

with PGD2, which is more or less the counter-regulating

prostate gland in the body where you know PG-E-2 kind of promotes relaxation of tissues whereas

PGD2 encourages construction of tissues which is more or less why PGE2 is a therapeutic treatment or, you know,

option given to women that are trying to go through labor. And you'll go, if you'll look at the data,

you'll see PGE2 is prescribed as well as a mega dose of castor oil to induce labor, which is really interesting.

So the dose that induces labor, women usually use one to two tablespoons or more to induce

labor. And it's also a potent laxative at doses higher than five milliliters per day. So obviously

those are both significantly high doses and something that would only be used

acutely for some short-term application like as a laxative or as inducing labor.

So because it does what PGE2 does to such a, you know, it's such a potent agonist of this,

this is why women can just slam some

castor oil to induce labor. And it's really interesting how that has the same, you know,

clinical application as literal PGE2. So as far as the amount used for hair loss application,
