Oh, you know, I would say I was living in the same fear as a lot of these gymnasts for a long time. I was so scared to speak my truth. I was

scared of being ostracized. I was scared of having people say nasty comments who

didn't even know me who say things to you that they don't even know your situation.

I decided when I was going to write my book, it was a seven-year process.

It was hard. I was sitting at the computer oftentimes crying just letting out all the pain and all the hurt because I kept it in

There was some nights I cried myself to sleep because I was so sad and I'm like why is there

This void like why do I feel this pain that's so deep it's cuts and I didn't want to go to do unhealthy things for that pain, which a lot of people do.

And I did, there were times where I did a little bit, but I was able to get that under control

and not go off really, really bad.

And then Mike came into my life, you know, I was 19 and from 17 to 19 where I would say kind of my darker years where I just wanted to not think. I didn't want to think anymore of how hurt I was. I didn't even want to be around the sport.
