with your host emma daughter thanks for joining today we're reading joshua 18 through 20 and we're

answering the question how can we understand the boundaries of the land today because well let's be

honest when we read passages that reference places we're unfamiliar with

and seem to just go on and on about details we don't recognize, it can be hard to make sense of

everything. And as I started thinking about boundaries, I was reminded of a kind of funny story

from my childhood when I was in probably the first grade. The home we lived in had a very large driveway.

Now, sometimes we would leave the driveway on our bikes or scooters and go around the neighborhood.

But most of the time, we were only allowed to scooter and bike or draw with chalk around the

big driveway because it wasn't safe for us as kids to go into the street unsupervised.

Now, at the time, I also had very young, we're talking like newborn, young twin siblings who had

just been born. So I think it was probably easier for mom and dad to let the big kids ride

their bikes in the driveway while still being able to care for the twin babies who maybe

weren't ready to go on a long bike ride just yet. And as a five-year-old, I understood this boundary.

I was not allowed to go into the street on my bike or my scooter without a parent with me.

The boundary line was at the end of the driveway where the white cement drive met the

black asphalt road. It was a very clear dividing line. And I understood this boundary so well,

so well, that one day as a five-year-old, I'd brought a cup of milk outside and had tipped it over.

And I was very concerned because the milk

that was spilling was running down the driveway approaching the boundary line. Now, I must have been a

very creative five-year-old because I wanted to stop not just myself from crossing the boundary
