I'm Helen Needham. And it's midsummer almost in the north-east of Scotland. It'd be hard

push to tell though because we've got a thick hare or a thick fog. But with gloat's coming up,

we're going to be looking at the effect of Lyme's disease and the fact that you can catch it

in our cities. We're also going to be going up to the island of Yale, which is the second most northerly

island in the British Islands.

And I'm going to be speaking to the chap who runs the highly important Borreveau Community Hall.

We'll also go on a sea farie just south of Stonehaven with Mark Stephen.

But first of all, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection and spread to humans by infected ticks.

They feed on the blood of birds and mammals, including us, but tick numbers are on the rise.

And apparently, so is Lyme disease. So checking yourself when you've been out and about is absolutely essential.

Yeah but not just in the hills and it's not just in the highlands either.

A lot of cuttle met up with Fiona Stalker to find out more.

Lyme disease is something that in our lives we're hearing more about than we have done for a number of years. I have a personal

interest in it, I must say that. So about 11 years ago, I noticed a bullseye rash on the back

of my leg. I didn't know what it was. I went along to my GP and my GP, which I now know,
