And we essentially wanted to give everyone some explanation of what is going on with USAID. So we're going to actually have a two-part episode. The first part, we've invited Jonathan Geyer. Hello, Jonathan.

Hey. Jonathan's a program director at the Institute for Global Affairs at Eurasia Group,

and we're going to talk to him about what's going on. And in the second half of the episode,

we're going to have Friend of the Pod, Tim Gill, to run through a little bit of the history of

Thank you so much. We're fans of you. So why don't we just start with the brass

tax? What the hell is going on with USAID?

Is it death by a thousand cuts? Is it dead on arrival? It's been a pretty tumultuous.

I mean, it seemed like they gave it the Gallagher treatment,

right? I mean, this is just, they've killed the agency, essentially, right? Yeah, it's been

incredible. I've been hearing, I probably spoke with a dozen people in various bureaus throughout

this agency. And it's just like it was this drip, drip, drip, until suddenly they realized

that they can't really do the work

that they're tasked to do. And obviously, there's a big conversation to be had on what USA does,
