This podcast is specifically for people that had a heart attack or problems with the heart. The two primary fuels for a healthy heart are glucose and fatty acids. If the heart damaged by diabetes or pre-diabetic state, there is an impairment in the glucose and fatty acid metabolism which causes the heart not to assimilate fuel that leads to damage in the heart muscle, heart attacks and hypertrophy (enlarged heart cells).

So this is what you need to know. A healthy heart runs on glucose primarily in fatty acids.
