Once upon a time, there lived a grumpy elf called Philonius Polonius. FP for short.

Philonius Polonius worked in Santa's workshop.

He helped last year when Santa's sleigh wasn't working.

Philonius Polonius had built one of his own.

And it did the job perfectly.

Santa flew far and wide

and delivered every single present

to every single child.

Philonius Polonius saved Christmas.

From then on, he became head of the Slay department,

and he watched over the reindeer too.

Both jobs are of the highest honour in the North Pole.

Everything was going smoothly for this year's Christmas Eve run.

Santa was checking his list one last time when one of the mailroom elves came running in.

Santa, Santa! Santa! A letter! It just came in! I thought we had the last batch day to go, but this one just arrived, he said.

Well, let us see what this is about, Santa said.

He opened the letter.

It was from a little girl called Edith.

Dear Santa, I know this letter is quite late, but I wrote you months ago with my list, but now I'm scared you won't come to our house. I'm pretty sure I'm on the nice list, but I know my brother is not. He's naughty and grumpy and cranky.

He's always in the timeout corner at school.

And I just thought if he's not on the nice list, then you might skip me.
