Okay. In 2011. In 2011, 27-year-old teacher Ellen Greenberg was found dead with 20 stab wounds inside her

Philadelphia apartment.

Investigators later ruled her death, a suicide. In the 13 years since her death, Ellen's parents, Josh and Sandy Greenberg,

have fought long and hard to have their daughter's manner of death changed to homicide or undetermined.

And for the first time, Ellen's fiancé at the time, Sam Goldberg,

has spoken out publicly about her death. Joining me now for a look into this case and the legal

battles that have sparked since is criminal defense and family law attorney, Lexi Ridgan.

So Lexi, welcome to the podcast.

You know, this case has garnered a lot of attention around the country, not just in the Philadelphia area.

And one of the reasons is that there seems to be such a gray area around the immediate aftermath of the discovery of Ellen and how it was classified and what went on

afterwards. It gets very, very murky. So can you just give us a thumbnail of what happened

subsequent to the discovery of her body? Boy, there was a lot that happened. So after her body

was found, the police did come, but they started

immediately treating it like a suicide. And Sam Goldberg, who was the fiance, he's apparently,

his family is politically connected in the, in the Philadelphia area and in Pennsylvania, you know,
