My name is Will DeFries and this is a Sunday Scaries Podcast, your cure for the Sunday Blues.

Over the past few years, this podcast has served a lot of purposes for me.

Originally, it was an extension of the blog that I started as a creative outlet.

As I began to gain steam, I found it to be a fairly viable way to make a living.

And in a lot of vulnerable moments in my life, it served as a journal and refuge from things I've

worked out in my personal life. From quitting my job to getting engaged to getting married,

I've never really shied away from discussing those big moments in life, and today that's no different.

You've heard her on here before, and you'll probably hear her on here again in the future,

introducing today's guest, my wife, Sally DeFries. Sally, I'm sure listeners have figured it out by now,

but can you explain why you're here? I'm here because we're having a baby.

Pretty big news. Pretty big news. You and I have really both known that we've wanted to have kids

even before we got married. Do you remember anything about the time when we finally decided to

take the leap and be like, okay, let's do this? Even though I knew I wanted to have kids, and I think

you probably felt the same way, there were a few years when we were engaged when I was in school,

and right after we got married, where I knew kids were going to happen, but they weren't really

in the forefront of my mind. I was excited about the possibility of being a parent, but I wanted

to do a lot more things like travel, or mostly travel without a child, because I feel like you can

kind of be unencumbered by all of the responsibility. I think that's like the number one passion of ours

that we like to do that is going to change the most. Right. And then the pandemic hit, and I feel like

my priorities kind of shifted. I was incredibly relieved that we got married and had the wedding

the way that we did, and watching some of my other friends, a lot of my friends have had kids at this

point, and watching them has become parents has been really awesome. It's kind of hilarious to watch.
