the ways this process can go awry and what we can do about it.

Over the course of evolution,

we had very little time to determine if a stranger was safe.

The second greatest threat to survival, the first would have been to be kicked out of the clan or the tribe that we were members of because we probably would starve to death very quickly.

We only survived due to the sharing of resources during the hunting and gathering and foraging

periods.

But after being kicked out of one's tribe, the second greatest threat would be stumbling across a stranger from another tribe.

Clearly one of the most common causes of death was from the hands of other people, strangers.

So it was very important to determine if a stranger was dangerous, would attack, was safe,
