So today we're going to talk about something called fecal, microbiota, transplantation.

0:27.4

Now why would anyone get a crap about this topic? I'm sorry, I had to do that. But this

0:32.9

fecal transplantation is becoming mainstream in medicine. It's highly effective for

0:38.5

the infection called C-DIF. It can greatly help irritable bowel diseases. It's been found

0:44.0

to be superior to antibiotics. There's been great results with autism, MS, rheumatoid arthritis,

0:52.2

decreasing risks of cancer, Parkinson's, chronic fatigue syndrome, acne, and even depression.

0:59.0

However, I have some basic questions about this therapy. How long does it really last? I mean,

1:04.9

if you go back to your usual eating habits, do you maintain this microbiome or does it become

1:11.5

altered or affected by your lifestyle? I mean, what people really should be doing is find out

1:17.7

what the fecal donor is eating and eat like that person. But this fecal transplant has been

1:24.6

around for a very, very long time. I'm talking like 2000 years. The Chinese actually used it as a

1:30.6

therapy for many different things. But there's some really important points to this topic. The fact

1:36.0

that it works so well for so many different conditions, I mean, the connection between our microbes

1:41.8

and both the innate and the acquired immune system, the importance in brain health, the importance

1:48.9

of digesting things that we can't digest like fiber, the importance of these secondary bile

1:56.5

salts made by microbes, and the importance of bile in general. Also for our skin and autoimmune

2:03.6

diseases, nearly every single autoimmune disease starts in your gut. And if there was a much better

2:09.0

friendly relationship with these microbes, chances are you probably wouldn't get an autoimmune

2:14.3

problem. I mean, there are certain bacteria that help produce the risk for kidney stones because

2:20.2

these microbes help to deal with oxalates. There's microbes that deal with uric acid to help reduce

2:26.1

the risk of gout. There are microbes that produce compounds that are anti-cancer. And really,

2:32.2

we just need to change our overall viewpoint with these bacteria or microbes in general.
